This training course will prepare individuals with a broad range of skills required for emergency response, emergency planning, and compliance to become a competent Fire Safety Advisor.
Professional Fire Safety Adviser Training
As of 1 July 2009, under the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008, all high occupancy buildings are legally required to appoint a Fire Safety Adviser (FSA). This course is for anyone appointed as, or wishing to work as, an FSA in Queensland.
This training also equips participants with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to advise on appropriate emergency planning, making them familiar with all aspects of building fire safety.

The Fire Safety Adviser course teaches participants the essential skills and knowledge required to assume the role and responsibilities of a Fire Safety Adviser (FSA) in accordance with the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008.

This course is held at our training facility in Yeerongpilly and on the Gold Coast. Alternatively, this course is also available via webinar.
Note: If you need to refresh your Fire Safety Adviser accreditation, then you will only need to complete the 1 day Fire Safety Adviser Refresher Course.

Fire Safety Advisor - Classroom
- Pre-course Learning (Self-Directed): For students without prior skills, identified during the application process. Adds ~10 hours to the Fire Safety Advisor Skillset delivery.
Supervised face-to-face learning – Classroom delivery (18 hours) + (6 hours Assessment)
Assessments will take approximately an additional 6 hours - Supervised face-to-face learning – Classroom delivery (18 hours) + (6 hours Assessment)

Fire Safety Advisor - Webinar
- Pre-course Learning (Self-Directed): For students without prior skills, identified during the application process. Adds ~10 hours to the Fire Safety Advisor Skillset delivery.
Assessments will take approximately an additional 6 hours - Webinar face-to-face learning – delivery (18 hours) + (3 hours Webinar assessments + 3 hours post-course assessments).

Accreditation
This course is delivered by Australian Fire Protection Pty Ltd, Registered Training Organisation 45740. Upon successful completion of the Fire Safety Advisor Training Course, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment in the following competencies:-
> PUAFER001 Identify, prevent and report potential facility emergency situations
> PUAFER002 Ensure facility emergency prevention procedures, systems and processes are implemented
> PUAFER003 Manage and monitor facility emergency procedures, equipment and other resources
> PUAFER004 Respond to facility emergencies
> PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
> PUAFER006 Lead an emergency control organisation
> PUAFER007 Manage an emergency control organisation
> PUAFER008 Confine small emergencies in a facility
These competencies meet the requirements of the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulations 2008 for the role of Fire Safety Adviser.

Overview of QLD Fire Safety Advisor Course
This course is held primarily at our training facility, or we can attend your facility if minimum numbers are met. For flexibility in meeting student requirements, this course is delivered at our facility or by webinar utilizing Zoom Software.
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a Fire Safety Advisor
- Fire Safety Advisor: Relevant Legislation and Regulatory Requirements
- Identifying the various prescribed fire safety installations and essential fire safety measures installed in buildings
- Develop an awareness and understanding of the requirements and records relating to the maintenance of prescribed fire safety installations & essential fire safety measures
- Understanding the training requirements around fire and evacuation instructions to ensure instructions are provided at the prescribed intervals
- Practical Incident Control and Chief Fire Warden scenarios
- Understand the emergency planning process and workplace procedures
- Conducting an Evacuation Practice
- Preparing a Fire Evacuation Plan / Emergency Plan
- Understand Evacuation Diagrams requirements, and the minimum elements required
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) and AS3473 or AS4083
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the Emergency Planning Committee (EPC)
- Conducting an EPC meeting
- Practical fire extinguisher & fire blanket training
- Practical use of a fire hose reel
- Lithium-Ion Fire Safety Awareness and the risk and dangers of Lithium-Ion fires
- Practical spill kit training & responding to chemical spills
